Wanderpokal

Used material

Stainless steel round tube 105mm in diameter and 1.5mm wall thickness (for petals)
combined with
Square profile 50x50mm and a wall thickness of 1.5mm (stand for the ball)
as well as
Elements made of stainless steel in the thickness of 1mm (single parts of football)

Application

This hiking cup was specially designed for the annual International TRUMPF Soccer Tournament.
He was appointed for the first time in September 2007 by the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the TRUMPF Group, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Berthold Leibinger. The cup has been presented with the “Berthold Leibinger Wanderpokal” since then.

Production

the petals were cut from a round stainless steel tube with the TruLaser Tube 5000 from TRUMPF and then fixed to a base plate by a cone connection

the football comes from individual reshaped and laser-cut stainless steel elements, which were made on a combined punching/laser machine (TruMatic 6000) from TRUMPF

using laser welding from TRUMPF, the individual parts have been combined into a football, all parts were finally blasted glass beads to obtain a uniform surface, the complete unit is fixed on a black marble slab

for presentation and for the most accident-free transport, a black lacquered wooden box was created, on which a (laser cut) soccer player is emblazoned

Wanderpokal

Characteristics

The basic idea that led to this form was the presentation of the team idea. Symbolized by eleven petals that group around the football. The combination of different production processes for sheet metal processing was a particular challenge for the production. Soccer itself has already been used for the 2006 World Cup in Germany (this has not been my idea).
